NHPC Starts Today; Players Meet Your Matches
March 6, 2022

The first round of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship starts today at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and thanks to yesterday's PURE nightclub draw party, all 64 competitors now know exactly who they're facing first.

Once again organizers of the NHPC have set up four starting brackets labeled either Spades, Diamonds, Hearts or Clubs, with eight matches set to roll today in each bracket.

-Hearts Bracket - (first round 12:15 PM PT)

Jeffrey Ishbia vs. Leon Yanovski

Barry Greenstein vs. Blandino Gines

As this is a single elimination tournament (except for the final match of the event), the completion of today's first round matches will effectively cut the NHPC field in half. All 32 surviving players will then reconvene at Caesars tomorrow where they will play two more rounds, followed by the final three rounds on Sunday.

To follow the action live all weekend long, open a second window and visit www.cardplayer.com for updates, and photos straight from the Palace.

PokerRoad.com will be there too, with our own unique stye of coverage that will include new episodes of PokerRoad Radio, blogs, videos and forum posts; each serving to give our peeps the best insider look, at what is by most accounts, the biggest heads-up event of the year.
