PokerRoad President Joe Sebok, moments ago in his most recent blog, officially confirmed the rumors that he has become the newest Ultimate Bet pro, joining a team that already holds such well known players as Annie Duke, Tiffany Michelle, Bryan “Devo” Devonshire and legendary eleven-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.
This surprising announcement comes on the heels of numerous recent news stories involving Ultimate Bet, including most notably the release of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s (KGC) final findings report regarding the UB cheating scandal, a report that ultimately found UB’s current ownership, Tokwiro Enterprises, in their eyes innocent of any wrong doing, in full compliance with the KGC’s sanctions and highly cooperative with their overall investigation.
Even after the release of the findings report however, which included a full list of 23 specific accounts involved in the cheating, encompassing 117 separate user names, there is still much unknown regarding the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal, as well as much anger and general distrust, making Joe’s recent decision naturally controversial.
Sebok, in his lengthy current blog, makes it painfully clear that he was not only aware of the controversy when he first began talks with UB, but initially more than a little hesitant to get involved with it, requiring at first a significant amount of convincing which not only involved UB completely opening themselves up for his inspection, but also numerous Joe-specific special conditions, including always allowing him the complete freedom to speak of the company and it’s past demons in any way that he sees fit- whether negative or positive- as well as allowing him to be completely hands-on with UB in the future, particularly with how they disseminate information to the poker community from this day forward.
As such, along with his new position as a sponsored pro, Joe also announced a new job title with Ultimate Bet as there official Media & Operations Consultant.
